Sept 13-17, 2010
This post only covers the weekdays because I want to get all of the trip to come in one post.
This week in general was a pretty quiet one, as well as lonely given the recent departure of Lauren. Work was work, I went through the motions with my classes, and had a few words with some co-teachers who felt I needed to do more to make sure the kids understand the homework. Well to that I say, "If they don't know whats going on then they should ask, and if they don't ask I can't help, and ultimately don't care." But we'll see how it goes over the coming weeks as the kids get used to my teaching style versus Mike's.
I did have the chance this week to get out and ride my bike to work a couple of times, and everything seemed fine, so I'll have to start making more use of it. After work both Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I came right home and watched replays of the football games, and just took it easy. On Wednesday night I also called my grandma since I hadn't talked to her since I came back to Korea, and Ash had told me she was waiting to hear from me. It was nice to talk to her and reminded me that I need to get on the ball and make some calls to the rest of my family before too long.
I got up Thursday and called my dad just to touch base before I took of to China, and then got ready and headed to work. On my way to work I stopped at the bank and realized I was missing my Alien registration Card, which is vital to traveling in and out of the country. I had a bit of a freak out, and when I got to work my boss called the travel agent who I last remembered having it out around and confirmed that she did indeed still have it for paperwork purposes. After work on Thursday I met Blake at my subway stop and showed him the way to my house so that he could switch up Goah's food while I was gone, and before he went on his trip to Japan. After that we walked down to Seouldae Station and grabbed a couple beers with Junk, who I hadn't seen in forever. We stayed out until around 130 then called it a night.
Waking up early on Friday, I went to the travel agency to pick up my visa before coming home to get ready for work. Again I rode my bike to work and spent most of my time between classes printing out flight details and other planned events that I had been working on throughout the week, including my stay on the Great Wall and a couple of shows. Then with about an hour left in the day the bombshell that I didn't have to work on the Saturday after Chuseok was dropped, and I had a bit of a problem with that. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful to be getting the Monday off, but to fly back from China for one work day when I could have had a 9 day vacation was a little irritating. You win some you loose some I guess. After work I rode straight home to pack my bags for my trip and get some sleep before I had to leave at 9am.
Well it's a short week, but the one to come promises to be entertaining.
